Our Fall Soccer Season offers a recreational program for players in Grades 1 to 9, plus Saturday instructional for 4 & 5 year olds.
Key Program Features
- Saturday games at the Whitman Middle School and weekday practices as arranged by the parent-volunteer coaches.
- Weekly skill sessions to be offered for players.
- Mixed-ability teams made up of both Whitman and Hanson players.
- Separate boys and girls teams for grades 3 to 6; co-ed teams for grades 7 to 9.
- Teams coached by pairings of Hanson and Whitman parent-coaches (assuming an adequate number of volunteers from both towns).
- Uniform shirts are included in the program price.
Rationale for Fall Rec versus Fall Travel
We believe that offering a less formal fall program will offer a relaxed, fun environment for learning soccer and will also encourage more children to try town soccer or to return to the program after an absence.
Whitman-Hanson Youth Soccer will continue its participation in SSSL’s spring travel league, and we will be holding tryouts during the fall to inform our placement of players on the travel teams. As before, both tryouts and the coach evaluations will be used to create the teams for the spring travel teams.
